Jagmeet Singh Jimmy Dhaliwal is a Canadian politician who served as the leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP) from 2017 to 2025 and as the member of Parliament (MP) for Burnaby South from 2019 to 2025. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in 2011, representing Bramalea—Gore—Malton until his entry into federal politics. A Canadian-born practising Sikh of Punjabi descent, he was the first non-White politician to be elected to lead a major federal political party in Canada.
