Downtime, database crash

Sorry for the downtime recently, I don’t know what happened but we suffered a major database crash. Hopefully most is back to normal…. Since I haven’t really pushed this site — our visitors are mostly a ridiculous amount of bot scanners (it is the norm for every site, some worse than others), it’s possible they gummed up the flow and something got mangled mid-write in the process. Fingers crossed that vulnerability has been fixed.

While I have you. I added some extras to the site — community polls — and a few extra details on the recent national polls data.

Community Polls

Feel free to suggest poll questions. These polls are for fun – well, because I think polls can be great. Unlike the ratings and comments which are for registered users, I’ve left these community polls open to guests (or login/register to take a poll if you want to remember what polls you took part in).

Canada > National Polls

This was a fun addition that grew a bit, but it’s purpose remains the same – it’s there for a quick glance — nothing more or less. There are sites out there that go way more in-depth – I’ve mentioned them on that page. The meat of the information is pulled from WIKI. I’ve noticed there are delays when a new poll is added, that could be by design though. I’ve taken that info and created a few views

• Latest Polls – basically the table from WIKI that shows you all the latest polls 🙂 If you click on a row, you should see a popup that allows you to download (or screenshot) a snapshot of that poll, like
  
• Trend Line – Yet another trend line, but of course.
  
• Pollster Avgs – You can see the averages from each pollster. At the top I also grouped the highs, mids, and lows so they can directly compete with each other.
  
• Hot/Cold – How do the polls and/or methodology compare in the last 14, 28, 42 and All days. And I included a speculative average that may or may not reflect more truer avgs?
  

  You can also click on the little camera icon to screenshot a snapshot summary of those findings too
  

• News – Just recent poll headlines. The section that crawls bing news is weird, they aren’t the best at capturing a relevant search so some results are wild, so for good measure I added the latest headlines from some of the prominent pollsters.
